Seminary Social Movements and Cooperation: a Meeting between North and South
20th - 21th August 2006, Angrogna (Val pellice, Torino)
Which pattern of collaboration are possible between soputhern and norther organizations that work with Social Movements within formation/traning/capacitaciòn? This seminary aims to reflect on the sense of the cooperation which promotes the social justice with empowerment based strategies. Some speakers will introduce the discussion with short speeches but the greater part of the time will be dedicated to the panel discussion. We have the priviledge to accommodate many foreign participants (Brazil, India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentine, etc...) visiting the Agape political camp; we also would like to open the panel to some Italian non govermental organizations members. Our expectation is promoting a discussion on cooperation, wishing that the theoretical debate on these topics can be useful to all the participants. We would like to understand which can be a common solidarity ethics, which are the potentialities and the limits of the international cooperation, which is the sense of formation/education?/training? and empowerment, and how important is the proximaty to the social movements; last but not least, we also would like to discuss on the patterns of partnership.
Programme
20th August:
12 – 18 pm: arrivals and visit to the “paths of freedom” (upon request walk on the historical places of the waldensian resistance and the partisan resistance)

9. pm: presentation of the seminary, presentation of the participants and their organizations; collecting? raising? of expectations
21th august:

9.30 – 12.30: I session,
Social Movement and empowerment
The session wants to promote a panel on a cooperation close to social movements that work through programs of formation with empowerment based strategies. The panel will be introduced by the following speeches:

The session wants to promote a discussion on the sense and the criteria of the cooperation South-North focusing on limits and potentialities. These speeches will further the discussion:

Languages : English and Spanish; the seminary is spoken with the following translations: from the Spanish into English; from English into Spanish; from Italian into Spanish an English. Translation from the Spanish or English into Italian are not previewed/planned. Therefore Italian participants are supposed to understand at least one of the two main languages (Spanish or English).
